Visit from Western Sydney University, Australia to Collaborate with University of Colombo

A delegation from Western Sydney University, Australia met Prof. Lakshman Dissanayake, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo on 15th September. The meeting was held in order to discuss on possible extensions to the current and active Collaborations between the two universities in future. Prof. Karl Roberts, Director of Academic Program – Policing and Peace & Development Studies, Dr. Awais Piracha, Director of Academic Program – Geography & Urban Studies and Heritage & Tourism, Mohsen Soliman Ahmed, Senior International Regional Manager, Dr. Dilhari Attygalle, Department of Statistics and Dr. Ruwan Weerasinghe, UCSC participated for the discussion.

The event was initiated and organized by Dr Liwan Liyanage of Western Sydney University (UWS) and the International Office  of University of Colombo. Objective of this new initiative is to strengthen and broaden the originally established, Educational, Scientific and Cultural cooperation between UWS and UoC to include all disciplines in both institutes. Original formal link program was initiated by Dr. Liyanage (former UoC academic) of Western Sydney University (former UWS) and Prof. V. K. Samaranayake of UoC in February 1999 for promoting integration of Statistics and Computer Science disciplines. This will open up many new opportunities for both students and the staff in all disciplines of the University of Colombo in future.
